It’s all in the delivery

The delivery or project management role is not known as the most glamorous or exciting - but it is fundamental for the success of digital projects, and here is where experience really counts.

Aside from the planned objectives of any project or campaign, clients will always want to know “how much will it cost?” and “how long is it going to take?”. In fact, these are frequently the two most common questions you’ll get from senior stakeholders at the inception of any project.

Great creative and technology-based ideas need to be able to be delivered effectively to their audience to work their magic and get results. That’s why “it’s all in the delivery” is a great mantra to follow.

It stresses the importance of correctly budgeted products and campaigns that fulfil the brief and business objectives, being delivered on time by a motivated and well supported team.

In order to achieve this experience truly counts in the delivery role, especially as there are so many aspects to a digital project to get right. For a project management practitioner with decades of deliveries to draw on, there’s a deep capability for adding value and keeping things on track.

Experience is key for things like:
- Analysis of the project brief, to accurately capture the key requirements together with the desired outputs and objectives
- Estimating the work effort and associated timings and putting together the budget, all covered off in a watertight scope document
- Input on casting to ensure that the right team is going to work on the project
- Identifying potential risks and issues up front and putting plans in place to deal with them
- Setting up the right project processes, ensuring clarity around responsibilities, deliverables and deadlines
- Guiding all members of the team in their outputs across disciplines, to ensure relevance and quality
- Effective internal team, client and stakeholder communication

These are just some of reasons why it is best to go for an experienced delivery professional to manage and direct your projects and delivery teams. So why not get in touch to discuss how I can help with all this and more.
